NEWS FOR MAPLE GROVE UMC – MARCH 2020

FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK

 Lent Prayer Challenge
Hello Friends, As Christians we should strive
daily to grow closer to Jesus. During Lent I want
us, as individuals and as the Church, to open our
hearts to allow God to completely take control
and mold us into the men and women of God He
has called us to be.
How are we going to do this? Simple, we are
going to commit to daily prayer.
We are not going to just pray any prayer; we
are going to pray scripture.
Starting Ash Wednesday (Feb 26) through
Easter Sunday (April 12) we are going to pray
Psalm 139: 23-24. Below are five different
versions of the scripture. I encourage you to pick
one that you like or alternate through the five.
By praying these words, we are asking God to
search us, know us, show/test us, and guide us.
I believe with all my heart that if we sincerely
pray for God to move in our lives and the lives of
our Church He will move in a mighty way. I want
God to grow our fellowship by molding us into
mighty Children of God.

Search me, God, and know my heart; test
me and know my anxious thoughts. See if
there is any offensive way in me, and lead
me in the way everlasting. (NIV)

Search me, O God, and know my heart; test
me and know my anxious thoughts. Point
out anything in me that offends
you, and lead me along the path of
everlasting life. (NLT)

Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try
me, and know my anxieties; And see if
there is any wicked way in me, and lead
me in the way everlasting. (NKJV)
Investigate my life, O God, find out
everything about me; Cross-examine and
test me, get a clear picture of what I’m
about; See for yourself whether I’ve done
anything wrong—then guide me on the
road to eternal life. (MSG)

Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try
me and know my thoughts!    And see if there
be any grievous way in me, and lead me inthe way everlasting (ESV)

NEWSLETTER DEADLINE – MARCH 22

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for,
the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1
I called Mom and found her in the greenhouse.
She was sitting in the sunlight among the
numerous pots of soil, the day after planting.
“What are you doing in there?” I asked. The
thought of sitting around a bunch of barren
flowerpots sounded depressing.
“Oh no, it’s beautiful,” she replied. “I’m
imagining what they will be. You could say I’m
dreaming in flowers.” . . .
Dear Lord, please nurture me into becoming
the flower You planted. I want to lift up my face
to You and shine with all of the love You have
given me. Ericka Bentsen-Daily Guideposts 2016
