Lent Prayer Challenge

As Christians we should strive daily to grow closer to Jesus.  During Lent I want us as individuals and as the Church to open our hearts as allow God to completely take control and mold us into the men and women of God He has called us to be.

How are we going to do this? Simple, we are going to commit to daily prayer.

We are not going to just pray any prayer; we are going to pray scripture.

Starting Ash Wednesday (Feb 26) though Easter Sunday (April 12) we are going to pray Psalm 139: 23-24.  Below are five different versions of the scripture. I encourage you to pick one that you like or alternate through the five. By praying these words, we are asking God to Search us, know us, show/test us, and guide us.

I believe with all my heart that if we sincerely pray for God to move in our lives and the lives of our Church He will move in a mighty way. I want God to grow our fellowship by molding us into mighty Children of God.

Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.
See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. (NIV)

Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.
Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life. (NLT)

Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties;
And see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. (NKJV)

Investigate my life, O God, find out everything about me; Cross-examine and test me, get a clear picture of what I’m about; See for yourself whether I’ve done anything wrong—then guide me on the road to eternal life. (MSG)

Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting (ESV)
